The Tensioner cylinder features a stainless steel rod with nickel/chrome plating, a forged case, hard chrome plated, and low friction seals. The Tensioner also features forged accumulator bottles, and stainless steel piping. Hannon/REMCO also designed and manufactured the system control panel.

Supplemental Tensioner is a conventional air/hydraulic passive Tensioner
unit utilizing a 12.00 inch bore x 5 foot stroke x 8.00 inch rod
cylinder. The unit provides a maximum line tension of 85 kips and
is used to provide additional tension for the drilling riser during
heavy riser conditions.
